On 19th of December 2011 partner of the Attorneys at Law «IMG Partners» Vadym Triukhan took part in the Civil Society Forum "Ukraine - EU Summit 2011: the public dimension".
During the first panel of the Forum the results of the cooperation with the EU in the format of "partnership and cooperation" and practical steps which should be taken to introduce relations of "political association and economic integration" were discussed. Among the topics which experts have focused on their attention were internal political situation in Ukraine, financial and economic crisis in the EU, Ukraine – Russia energy relations, transport and environmental policy, institutional implementation of European integration policy etc.
The key guests of the second panel of the Forum were leaders of the EU - the President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy and the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso. The results of the 15th Ukraine - EU jubilee Summit and further perspectives of Ukraine's integration into the EU were discussed during the panel. Special attention was paid to the issues of conclusion of the Association Agreement, which will include provisions on deep and comprehensive free trade area, as well as to liberalization of the regime of Ukrainian citizens travels to the European Union. In particular, replying the question of Mr. Triukhan during the discussion, the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso assumed that the Commission will cooperate with the government, civil society and business associations of Ukraine to ensure their sufficient preparation for the fulfillment of the Association Agreement, and continue the dialogue aimed at improvement of the business climate in our country.
Additional information: The organizers of the Forum were the Ukrainian national platform of the Civil Society Forum of the Eastern Partnership, Agency for Legislative Initiatives, Public Expert Council and the European program of the International Renaissance Foundation. The participants of the Forum were over 150 representatives of Ukrainian NGOs, trade unions, business associations, expert and analyitical organizations, representatives of embassies of the EU member states and media.
